I was lucky enough to travel to Normandy for the 50th anniversary - TopicsExpress

I was lucky enough to travel to Normandy for the 50th anniversary of D-Day. When you walk the American cemetery above Omaha Beach and read the gravestones of the fallen and walk the cliffs of Pointe Du Hoc, you are indelibly marked by a profound sense of gratitude, respect, and awe for our Veterans. I heard stories from the Veterans who returned to remember and celebrate their fallen brothers -- they spoke of sacrifice, courage, and an abiding and overwhelming love of country and pride for their unique role in history. As we look back 70 years, we can all imagine anew, the extraordinary commitment and bravery of those who fought on the beaches of Normandy. Let us use this as a touchstone for taking courage to meet the challenges of our own time. #DDAY70
