I was on a mission to climb this mountain. My mind was set on - TopicsExpress

I was on a mission to climb this mountain. My mind was set on getting as high as my legs could take me. My mind had been taken over by day to day problems that dragged me down and wore me out. This trip was going to be my getaway. And this is my story. I climbed high. As I walked, snow packed into my boots and every step I took rattled my body. As it became colder, I began losing feeling in my outermost extremities. All was white. Snow overtook the trail I had relied on for so long and I felt lost. The air because frigid and still. I came to a ravine, cut into the side of wall of ice. I took it as a path, and decided to follow it. The ice was dry and the wind disappeared upon my first step inside. Silence took over. With each step I took, the silence was broken. As the ravine widened, my footsteps grew louder, and the breaking of the silence was more defined. I stopped and looked around myself. Reflections of myself within the ice differed all along the walls. I was a different person in each of the reflections. This reminded me of how I would alter my personality to match those I was with. I continued on. Upon exiting the ravine, I was struck once again by the relentless wind that roared over the mountain. I pushed onward and found myself standing upon the entrances to three different doors. The first door had the words, My Life engraved into it. I shuttered with each step as I approached the door. I opened it and stepped inside. It was a dark, small room approximately fifteen feet in diameter. In the center sat a man by a small fire that seemed to be fading. I approached the man. He was crying. In his hand he held a note that read, Goodbye. Within an instant, he removed a gun from beside him and shot himself in the head. What was left of the fire had vanished. All was dark. All was cold. I turned back out and left the room. I was confused as to why he had shot himself and why he had been crying. I looked to the second door. The door in the center had the words, My Future engraved into it. I opened the door and stepped inside. The air was warm and inviting. I progressed further into this cave. The path became harder to follow. Eventually the air became warmer, until it was almost unbearable. A great opening came into sight. In the chasm, a lake of fire scorched my skin upon setting my eyes upon it. In an instant, screams of pain and agony beat into my eardrums. Out of thin air, malnourished, burnt people began crawling toward me. They latched onto my boots and refused to let go. I kicked them away and turned to leave when a man with horns stood before me. The man was large and his presence was discomforting. He said, You will find no peace in Hell. He reached for me but I ran past him. I traced my way back to the door. I opened it and jumped through. I crashed into the snow and the door closed behind me. I tried to process what I had just experienced. Confusion overcame me and I rested for a while before I got back up. I then stood and faced the last door. The words, My Opportunity had been painted on the door. I opened it. I walked inside and the air was warm, yet this time it was comfortable. I was in another small room. Across from me, on the other side of the room, a man sat patiently. His face was beautiful. His hair was long, brown and curly. And a beard hung from his chin. He stood and approached me. He said, Come, my child. We have much to discuss. There are things Id like you to see and places I want you to go. I asked him, Why me? Ive only just arrived. He said, No dear child, youre right on time. You will do great things with me. I will provide you guidance. I will give you all you need and nothing you cant handle. I studied the mans attire and found his eyes in the process. He spoke, I offer you new life. Through you, all will know who you serve. Through me, you shall live. Through me, you will know peace. I agreed to do as he asked. Why? I cant explain. But after that, he escorted me back out the door. How will I find you? I asked. In case I shall need you. The man took man hands and placed them together. My palms touched one another perfectly. Do this and speak, and I shall hear you. He told me. Where shall I go from here? I asked. I will show you as you go. He told me. Ill will offer you opportunities. But you will be tempted with sin. Dont give in to the temptation, I warn you. For sin is evil. He opened the door and placed his hand upon my back as I stepped outside. I looked outside. The once frozen snow filled landscape that I had traveled on had gone away. Green grass and beautiful flower fields replaced the harsh snow and ice. He told me, Go forth now, tell all you know what I have done for you. I have rescued you from Hell, and I have saved you from yourself. I have already saved you. Now believe in me as I have believed in you and come back to my kingdom. Bring others for there will be a grand feast. What shall I tell them your name is? I called back. I am the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, your personal Lord and Savior. I nodded and began walking away whenever I heard him come up behind me. I turned back. Where are you going? I asked. He smiled back and then said, Well that depends on where it is you shall go. Youre coming with me? I asked. And Im never leaving. He reassured me. Now, let us walk together. Tristan Sigert
