I was playing football today in the lovely noon hour and i realised that the heat and the physical exertion was making me irritable. It didnt help that the opponents were making alot of noise, haranguing the referee for every call, and screaming at each other for not playing like a professional team. It began to affect my play and i realised i was making challenges that were not entirely without intention to injure. So i took a moment to reflect in the shade, and i realise that anger is the enemy of man. It is truly a descent into our baser natures that make us forget our spirituality and our need to submit to His will. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) was once asked for advice, the type of advice that one could keep and pass on to future generations. He only uttered this simple phrase and he repeated it 3 times. Dont get angry. Dont get angry. Dont get angry. Let us all remember this, and stifle our anger with compassion, understanding and love. Failing which, we should walk away and cool off, because a strong person is not one who is dominant or one who can command the obedience of many, nor is he or she an infinite warrior. A strong person is one who can master the hardest adversary of all: Anger. Assalamualaikum to all, and have an excellent sunday. :)
