I was reading Ephesians and pumped the brakes on chapter - TopicsExpress

I was reading Ephesians and pumped the brakes on chapter 3:14. “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,……” This may mean: 1. All redeemed in heaven and earth look to Him as the head of the family. 2. All fatherhood in the universe derives its name from Him. The Fatherhood of God is the original and the ideal; it is the prototype of every other paternal relationship (including yours). I will translate this verse loosely, “from whom all fatherhood, earthly or heavenly, derives its name.” Your wife chose to take on your name by God’s grace (LOL), and your kids followed, men. You ought to be proud of that! How proud are you of your name!? I’m darn proud of mine because I know who my name came from! Do you? Continuing on: 16That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory (you can’t help but be struck by the vastness of Paul’s request), to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Once you’ve been filled, overflow to your family, as God intended. This is a pleasure as well as a responsibility. This puts a brand new fear in me to know that my babies and my woman (LOL) have been entrusted to me and God allowed them to take my name as we took ours from the Lord. Remember, the fatherhood of God is the prototype of our fatherhood. Are we living out the original mandate? Are we alert, standing firm in the faith, being courageous (acting like men), staying strong? Do we love our wives as Jesus loved the church? Are you giving yourself for her; sanctifying and cleansing her with the washing of water by the word, presenting her to the Lord glorious soul, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; that she may be holy and without blemish? (mmm-mm-mmm). How do we address our children? Are we bringing our children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, or are we provoking them to wrath? It starts with us! As overwhelming as this position/privilege sounds, we were wired for this. This has been an exhortation for the Daddy’s out there. Wear that badge proud!
