I was reading about the Antares rocket explosion this afternoon. It was built by Orbital Sciences Corp, and “com-busted” seconds after leaving the seaside launch pad at Wallops Flight Facility. Here is the interesting part not being mentioned, yet, on U.S. News services and this is a quote from a BBC story. “Investigators will not jump to conclusions but one line of inquiry will surely focus on the AJ-26 engines used to lift the rocket away from the pad, says BBC science correspondent Jonathan Amos. These are actually modified Russian-built power units that were originally developed for the ill-fated Soviet Moon rocket, the N1. They have been refurbished to modern standards, but one blew up in ground testing earlier this year. Im a nerd and old, therefore I do remember the Russian N1 program. It was their attempt to beat us to the moon. That anyone would use these things is way beyond reason. https://youtube/watch?v=m79UO4HOQmc
