I was reading an article about the arrest of 3 suspects in the murder of a U of M medical student. The names of the suspects are not being released until they are arraigned. Further, they have not been charged and the investigation continues. However, the article has kudos to the AAPD by U of M Pres. Mary Sue Coleman, canpus police And from the family of the murdered student. The article is so over the top raving about the AAPD and the amazing job they have done. Here is the problem I have. Did they really do a good job? Do they really deserve all the accalaids that are being planted in the press for an incomplete job that hasnt even rendered a charge? Isnt it a bit premature? And, why does the AAPD feel the need to have the feathers puffed up on something that still had potential to go really, really wrong? I mean its not as if they have a conviction, yet. Just thinking here. Is this a really weak case and its being played out in the press for public conviction before a name is even released? It just seems the cart is way before the horse on this one. Please, exercise critical thinking skills when reading any article. Right now mind tricks are used in media simply because people are so believing that just because its in print or on the web it must be true or accurate.
