I was reading an article the other day with regard to the amount - TopicsExpress

I was reading an article the other day with regard to the amount of mortgages, staff and up keep that is spent in the churches in America in this day. We are not talking about millions rather billions. I got to thinking and conversing with Holy Ghost - are these buildings really to glorify God or are they a mere means in which to validate ministries and ministers. Does got really expect to have huge million dollar complexes, extravagant screens, the best in theater production equipment for the worship bands? Or again is this just to attract the world as well as pridefully proclaiming Ours is bigger, better and seats more than yours? Now, I can remember as a teenager sitting in my cousins run down home and God showed up in a very powerful presence. Ive been in some house churches as well as small churches and seen the same thing. In fact I could feel the thunder of Gods pleasure as we gathered in these simple settings simply to worship His Son. Whereas as I have been in many larger churches or mega churches if you will and only felt the thunder of the PA system during the worship service and heard the thunder of the pastors voice as he basically tried to compel the people to give more to support the ministry and explain how much they had to spend to keep the ministry going - yet when it really comes down to ministry everything is inward with very little if any outward ministry. Ive also been in these huge churches and heard them explain to the needy that they could help them but to realize that it was a One time assistance because after all doing ministry takes a lot of money. Ive witnessed 20 plus minute tithe messages only to hear in the same service the call for a Love offering for the guest speaker ( I remember Holy Ghost telling me in one service that they were but prostituting the pulpit - HELLO). Heard many messages that if one will just plant a seed into the New building that they will be inheriting a covering from the ministry. As well Ive heard pastors claim that their ministry is unique and that they were not called to help the needy and homeless. Really? Now when I go to the Word, I see that the Father was happy letting His Son be born in a stable, to see a tent house His Glory (I know we read about the house of God Solomon built yet I hear little of God resting there - in fact Solomons own personal house was twice the size and contained more gold & silver then the house he built for the Lord). Then I read in the New Testament that God more than happy to simply pouring His spirit and He and the Son taking up residence in His Children, in fact He goes so far as to calling them the temples of His Spirit. Some will debate that these large beautiful churches are our way of bring Glory to God - Yet I read in His Word is if we feed the hungry, take care of the widows and orphans and visit the prisoners, He is satisfied in seeing His Glory in this manner. As well we we are obedient to the commands of His Son and live and walk in there truths daily as well as sharing them with others really brings glory to His Name. God has blessed the Bride in the nation with an abundance of resources for ministry according to His design yet I believe even as we criticize our earthly government for waste and mis-handling of funds - so could the church be judged. I can only imagine the tent ministries being re-deployed, house churches being established, inner city discipleship centers and other such ministries being established, that we could like the disciples on the side of the hill, gather baskets filled with the over-flow of our God. Now thats my feelings - What are yours????
