I was reading from a personal journal this morning from a few years back while doing my study and came across a quote from Leo Tolstoy I had recorded. True thousands of years ago, a hundred years ago and today. I know that most men - not only those considered clever, but those who are clever and capable of understanding the most difficult scientific, mathematical or philosophical problems - can seldom discern even the most simple and obvious truth if it obliges him to adjust the falsity of conclusions they have formed, perhaps with great difficulty - conclusions of which they are proud, have taught others and on which they have built their lives. Boy, does this sound like some folks I know regarding so many areas of life today.
