I was recently trying to explain to someone why Sean and I will - TopicsExpress

I was recently trying to explain to someone why Sean and I will still be paying Laurens medical co-pays when she graduates (at least for a while). There is no possible way an entry level college graduate -- even with the best insurance -- can afford to pay for quality Type 1 diabetes care. I am so thankful for the advances that mean she will most likely live a long and productive life, but Im not sure our friends understand the incredible financial impact it has had on us for 17 years (and will into the future). Again -- anyone with a loved one with an incurable, chronic disease knows there is no amount of money we wont pay to keep them alive. But the financial impact needs to be addressed. This story explains it so well. And note the huge impact Type 1 has on the economy and on insurance for all. This is a big reason I ride for a cure. Of course the main reason is I want NO MORE TYPE 1 diabetes … but for all of you -- removing the financial impact on not just our family but our nation would be incredible (Imagine removing one third of all dollars medicare spends. Yep. Curing Type 1 would do it.) nytimes/2014/04/06/health/even-small-medical-advances-can-mean-big-jumps-in-bills.html?hp&_r=0
