I was recently watching Cutie and the Boxer - a much-nominated, awarded documentary about Noriko Shinohara (painter, wife) and Ushio Shinohara (boxing painter, husband). While it deftly weaves love, sacrifice, resentment and art into a seamless story, I couldnt get past boxing painting (hint: it entails dipping boxing gloves in paint and punching a canvass, which then sells for thousands of dollars). I suspect there is, in art, a very fine line between breathtakingly-bold and blatantly-bollocks. In London this year, Marina Abramovic will walk around the gallery for 512 hours. Thats it. Shell walk. And people will pay to watch her walk. In my mind, when artistic Metaphors overshadow intended Meaning - its dodgy territory; like this (slightly-gross) link here. This isnt art; this is a nuisance. #art #ironichashtags dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2549351/Its-like-cleanse-body-mind-Vomit-Painter-throws-canvas-create-Jackson-Pollock-style-splatter-paintings-Lady-Gaga-loves.html
