I was referred that this may be a good website to recruit filmmakers for a potential project: so I am giving it a go: BLUE CRANES SEEKING: PRODUCER, EDITOR, COMPOSER ABOUT ME: My name is Stacy Chu. I recently graduated from School of Visual Arts in NYC with a degree in film: Focus in Directing, minor in screen writing. I shot my thesis film in Huang Zhou, China. Upon graduation, I moved alone to LA, California to be closer to my family. I have strong influences of Woody Allen and I enjoy many art house movies. Comedy always seeps into everything I write. BLUE CRANES: Blue Cranes is the short film I shot in China. I did a two week rough cut on it so far, just to submit to my school as my thesis. It is a film about the differences in Chinese American culture - those of the children of the immigrated parents from the mainland - and the traditions that are left behind. A piece about not having culture identity to identify with. A 23 year old American girl goes back to China to visit her family. Her Grandmother attempts to set her up on dates for a possible potential suitor - through these, the differences arise. Its a considered a dramody - drama, comedy. Havent exactly found the style, of the movie but Im hoping we can all collaborate and work towards that. It is shot on a RED epic. The rough cut I did was cut on premiere to save time. I have subtitles on it as well. The entire film is in mandarin. SEEKING: A PASSIONATE PRODUCER I emphasize the word passionate because I want to work with people who is dedicated, cares, smart, fast and enjoys the overall cause of the movie. This movie is my baby and I want to collaborate with whoever I work with to make it the best it can. I want unique, opinionated creatives to par take in this fun project. I need help just whipping everything into shape. Finding out what the next step is, etc. I had a whole team in NY and since I left, I have almost been a fish out of water. GOAL: I made this film for many reasons. One is I had to. It is a very personal film, many of the locations are of those summers I spent in China with my family. A few of the cast are my own family - while others are professional actors from China. I hope this film, with its light comedy, will bridge gaps that many us forget we face.
