I was reminiscing about my time in boot camp. I went to Navy RTC in Orlando Florida. It was one heck of a time too. I left there with some really good memories. Like the time I got busted at the bottom of them stairs in the picture. My cousin Linda Pence and others came to my graduation. With them they brought an old childhood sweetheart. Ill leave off her name to save her embarrassment in case she ever sees this. What happened though was, after we had the ceremonies of the day, we had lunch in the chow hall. After that I gave them a tour of the base. We ended up at the bottom of those stairs. It was time for them to go, and me to go back to the barracks. So we were standing at the bottom of them stairs when I grabbed my old sweetheart and planted a big kiss on her. All of a sudden I heard PARKS! GET YOUR ASS UP HERE. Oops! Bye all. then I double-timed it up them stairs. My company commander got me in his office and began to give he the dressing down, and I mean and how. HIT THE DECK AND GIVE ME 50. All the while there was yelling and cussing and all kinds of sailor Extra Military Instruction. This was my second offence, you see. In Orlando there were waves back in 1976. I had got in trouble for an incidence at the movies 2 weeks before. Thats another story though, and it wouldnt be proper for me to give the details of it here. :D I got plenty of fond memories about my Navy experience. Joining the U.S. Navy was the best thing I ever did for myself. I got a skill as an aircraft mechanic that carried me for 35 years. The Navy still cares about me even now. The Veterans Administration is directly responsible for me being alive today. They cured me of a couple deadly diseases, and still keep me well. I would advise any of my young family or friends to join up with the armed forces. I didnt regret it, and doubt you would either.
