I was reminiscing with my dear friend, Leslie Lanksbury the other - TopicsExpress

I was reminiscing with my dear friend, Leslie Lanksbury the other day. I used to live in the Burien Gardens Apartments right off of Ambaum Way. This was back in the Early 70s, at the end of Viet Nam. The Grocery store there at the time was an IGA store, where we used to be able to buy a soda and a candy bar for a Quarter and still have change to run down past the Dime Store, and get some penny candies at Jerrys Garden Pharmacy... My Mom worked as a steam press operator around the corner at the One Hour Martinizers and Laundry Service... and we used to buy bottled milk at the gas-station on the corner across the street... I had my 1st job there too, I delivered the Seattle Times in Burien Gardens Apartments... LOL... Certainly not a financial windfall but it earned me enough to treat my sister and best friend to an afternoon lunch at Ikes Burger Bar ;) and if we were really good we got to go skating at the old Skate King Roller Rink, that was back when Roller Boogie was the IN thing - Man those were the days... (If anyone has any pictures of the area circa. 1970-75, please share, or share them in my messages) J Paul Allan
