I was sent a link on YouTube of a young man, Matthew Vines, and his arguments for allowing LGBT people to marry, and I found this video as a response. Matthew Vines video is an hour long, and in the first 10 min and final 10 min he makes an emotional plea that breaks my heart. And while I feel his pain, and wish to make it all better, I also cannot agree with his statements about his interpretion of scripture. We are not supposed to change Scripture to validate our desires, nor is Scripture written as a handbook to our happiness with ourselves. Its a handbook that leads to God and salvation. And in accepting that salvation, sometimes (actually all times) we are asked to sacrifice what we desire to live as God desires us to live. The happiness we gain is not acceptance of ourself and a good self esteem, but the happiness in being right with God. To be in relationship with Him! Which is more important than any other relationship! Hope this helps anyone else facing these issues in their life, or the life of their loved ones. If you are a Christian, then you line yourself up with Gods word. You dont twist Gods word to line up with what you want. This is true for all of us, Im not any exception. It applies to me, as much as any LGBT individual seeking God. You either accept, or reject. You cant change God to suit yourself. Transformation is Gods plan, for all!
