I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Chet Flippo today. Chet was a kind and gentle soul and a good friend. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work closely with him during my years at CMT. When challenges would arise, I always knew I could talk with Chet and sort things out. He had a way of helping me put things into perspective, which was both calming and enlightening. I have so much respect for Chet as a person, a country music historian and a masterful writer. I know he and his beloved soul mate, Martha, have been joyously reunited today, so as much as I feel the sadness of his passing and loss of a wonderful human being on this planet, I am happy for their gain. Rock on Chet . . .
