I was sitting at a local Starbucks the other day, picking up some coffee for me, and for Joy ( who was laid up with a fractured ankle, poor child...;) ), and noticed some lady watching me as though she was trying to recognize me as perhaps someone for which she was familiar. Finally she asked me if I played music, and I said, of course, Yeah, sure, do I know you? She stated that she was friends with some folks I knew at Phoenix Air in Cartersville, GA, and had went to a rehearsal that I was playing bass with a local band 6 or 7 years ago. I did not recognize the lady, she looked older than me, but as it turned out, she was much younger. Then she said the strangest thing. She said, You are way too old to be playing in a band, but continued by saying that I pulled it off very well. I didnt know whether to tell her to kick rocks or take it as a compliment. I nodded in quiet acquiescence, and went on about my business. As I was leaving with my coffee, she asked again if I was still playing, and I simply stated, Yeah, they wheel chair me in...sit me down in a chair, and I play bass, while getting intravenous drips of Geritol. If I forget where Im at...they have small wire nodes attached to my lower posterior region and send high voltage pulses of electric shocks into my ass to bring me back into reality. Its really all too easy. She looked shocked. I continued on out the door and was happy for the rest of the day. ;)
