I was sitting here this morning reflecting on where I will be going tomorrow. I will be attending a leadership conference that only about 250 coaches out of 210,000 are invited to attend each year. I distinctly remember last year this time. I had dropped the boys off and parked the truck in the garage turned off the motor and cried. I cried because I missed my goal and wasnt able to attend. I wish I could tell you that I cried got it out of my system and got back on the horse but I didnt. I spent the following months of 2013 feeling sorry for myself. But 2014 I decided to recommit and figure out WHY I wasnt meeting those goals and thats when I got the most powerful self development advice I have ever heard. Watch your pronouns they are very telling how you run your business. I realized that most of my pronouns were me, I and thats about it. So the first thing I did was apologize to my team and explain that 2014 was about them and their dreams and their goals. I then set out to find out the best way to train them, find out what they needed from me and set out to create a culture of respect and support. I will always be grateful to my first coaches who accepted my apology and who worked with me to create our new organization. I also needed to do a lot of personal development, a lot not just on myself but how people lead. It may have been the most humbling 9 mths I have been through. But in that time we have created an amazing organization that has developed leaders and attracted some incredible people. So I sat in the same garage this morning, in the same truck and cried because in our sneak peek group people had commented on how positive our organization was. We are now 4 diamonds, 2 1 star diamonds and many success starters coaches. So my advice if I have any is if you are failing...get used to that feeling. Get uncomfortable with it and dont let it stop you into doing nothing. Failing is the way to success for its only the people who keep trying that finally obtain it.
