I was sitting outside having a fag just now and reflecting on this psychopath who owns Grangemouth and will hurt anyone anyhow for money. And I suddenly realised: I actually possess everything I want! Im still fairly skint even though Ive currently got quite a lot of work on; but no amount of dosh would make me any more or less content than I am. Id like a turntable so I can play my old vinyl, but thats actually the only material possession I want and dont have, and anyway I can listen to most of my old stuff on the net whenever I want to. Its an odd realisation in a way, that I can be comparatively poor but not actually want anything, because it means that everything I was brought up to aspire to was worthless all along. Mind you, everything I own is ancient and will need replacing eventually; but to discover youve found a natural level is quite liberating. Ah well, thats enough philosophy for one night - wonder whats on my 15-year-old telly?
