I was surprised to discover that the author of the Mary Poppins - TopicsExpress

I was surprised to discover that the author of the Mary Poppins books, Pamela L. Travers intensely disliked Disneys movie version and tried to block it. I fondly remember some scenes from that movie. She co-founded Parabola magazine in 1976, a magazine I read with intense fascination when I was young. She was a serious student of George Gurdjieff, much more so then I (I just read the books). Pamela linked Mary Poppins to Mary herself - and a Catholic blogger went absolutely crazy with that idea in a fun way (seel link below). Its more likely Pamelas Mary is more akin to an Earth Goddess (Mary DeForest). More reading material on Pamela L.
