I was sworn in as a volunteer advocate for Ccourt Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) last night! CASA is a network of community-based programs that recruit, train, and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates are empowered directly by the courts to offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each childs rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care. Very exciting and scary. I am asking for prayers for guidance as I learn how to interact with the children, families, caseworkers, teachers, etc, and try to determine what is in the best interest of the children.
