I was thinking about a lot of the problems and troubles in the world today, today as I hiked around with a small pack, and lots of handouts. It seems to me that the problem we have in the USA between Police and the public, is an example of this kind of problem. Another case would be where the Rich have a division between them and the public. In both cases, we have a social mechanism operating that is one of our oldest types of social problems. I call it the US and them problem. In short, US can do no wrong but them, them guys are unthinkable, bad, dangerous, unclean, or whatever negative attribute is most used by US. US = us, not Untied States. What can we do about this, US and them? I think we need to break down the Prison Guards and prisoner model in the minds of both parties, as the problems are not only on one side. we need to show each group the humanity of the members of the other group, and begin sharing membership in both groups, and not exclude members of the otther group from US. Make it so that them can be part of US, and when it comes to US, them can join us in some way, and we will show them how. Does this make sense? Can anyone add to this please ?
