I was thinking about money. My husband and I live in a modest - TopicsExpress

I was thinking about money. My husband and I live in a modest house in a quiet and safe neighborhood in Manchester, NH. He has a good job which means that I dont have to work unless I want to. We have a retirement fund. We have a car that is paid for and runs very well. We are happy with what we have, we have nice things and can do fun stuff like eating out and taking trips. Hubby has said many times that if someone dropped $2 million in our laps right now, he could afford to quit his job, we could pay off the house and other debts, and live well for the rest of our lives. He is probably right. So my question is, HOW MUCH MONEY DOES ANYONE REALLY FRIGGIN NEED? A$D is worth over a billion, Felicia and the Gooch have made millions via that golden parachute thing. Yet somehow, this is not enough. I can understand wanting more money if you need it to pay your bills and stuff, but if you reach the point where you are comfortable, can pay your bills and have savings and all, why must it continue? Especially when you are already worth millions, living in some friggin mansion, have staff to attend to your every need. WHY DO YOU NEED MORE MONEY? I remember an interview with Artie T before things got to this point, where he said that he already has more than enough money to live on, so being good to the Market Basket associates by giving them fair wages, bonuses, profit sharing, etc., was something he felt that the company could easily afford to do. And he is right! So why do certain other people, who already have millions of dollars, still want more and more and MORE??? When is enough ENOUGH? Why are some people so greedy? I think it is a sickness or something. If I ever hit a big jackpot for the Powerball or whatever, sure, the first thing Id do was pay all the debts off and bank some of it. But hubby and I would also give a lot to charity; we would still stay in our house because we love it, and never wanted to live like flashy assholes in the first place. Corporate greed has gotten beyond ridiculous, and that is why I am here and helping to fight the good fight.
