I was thinking that our relationship was Christ Jesus could be compared to carving a pumpkin (silly, I know). Just humor me: pumpkins grow in all shapes and sizes. The outer shell of pumpkins come in varied shades but no matter the differences on the outside, open one and youll find the same stuff; orangish slimy, stringy, and pulpy yuck but tangled among the yuck are seeds. As a little girl, I loved carving the pumpkin each year with my mama and daddy. I loved the part where my mama and daddy did the dirty work of cleaning out the inside. In my minds eye, I can see the pile of goo and seeds that were scooped out and discarded on old newspapers. After we cleaned the pumpkin out, we discarded the inside mess and then lit our pumpkin with a candle. God creates us each in His own image. The color of our outer shells vary just as pumpkins but on the inside we are all pretty much the same. Before the knowledge and love of Christ Jesus, we were filled with yucky, stringy, pulpy junk. Gods love scooped all the mess away and we were left with shells to display the light of Gods love to all!
