I was thinking this morning, after talking on the phone with my Mom Edna Saunders, how PROUD I am of her!!! At 81 and living independently, she is amazing! She lives in pain everyday because of the many surgeries she had to have when she was younger and some days those old scars can ache and be painful, especially with the kind of weather we have. Then throw into the mix, the shattered femur from 2010. Luckily, she did WAY better than her surgeon or therapists EVER thought she would but still, it hinders her on a daily basis because she has to use a walker for most all she does and, of course, it too aches and pains her, especially at bedtime. Still, my mom continues to fight the fight that she has been fighting for years, fighting through all the ups and downs and tragedies in her life. She fights with a vengeance that I wish I had now at age 56! She still drives, when she feels up to it and takes every opportunity to keep herself busy and preoccupied with projects, entertaining herself and, helping neighbors on the 7th floor of her apartment complex. My Mom is simply a courageous and amazing woman who deserves nothing but the best! I only wish that I could give her more love and attention than I do . . . She IS coming here to Saratoga for Thanksgiving and I am SO excited!!! We agreed a long time ago, NEVER to miss a holiday or birthday together ever and so far, we have upheld that agreement! Love you more than you will EVER know Mom
