I was told, growing up, that the Sabbath was for the Jews, and that Christians observed the first day of the week in honor of Christs resurrection. Upon investigating this further, I discovered a number of problems with that statement. First, the Sabbath existed centuries before any Jews occupied the face of the earth. Adam and Eve were not Jews, and yet the seventh day had already been blessed and sanctified by God at Creation. Second, Jesus Himself stated that the Sabbath was made for MAN (Mark 2:27, emphasis supplied). Notice, He didnt say that the Sabbath was made for JEWS. God intended the blessing of the Sabbath for all humanity. Furthermore, nowhere does the Bible indicate any change of the day of worship from the seventh to the first day of the week.
