I was with Kaleb the day his oxygen saturations dropped more than 10 points and didnt come back up. I watched the screen when the left side of his diaphragm didnt move, and I heard the radiologist say paralyzed and paradoxical. I saw x-Ray after x-Ray with his diaphragm up as high as the 3rd rib space from the top. I spoke with Dr Del Nido the night he acknowledged that the recent diaphragm damage was from his bi-vent surgery, and I spoke with Dr Wilson(the top diaphragm dr in the country) when they discovered the previous diaphragm damage from one of Kalebs previous open heart surgeries. I understood when he said that a phrenic nerve/diaphragm damaged on 2 different occasions was highly unlikely to heal...a diaphragm that high just wasnt going to come down on its own were his exact words. But God had bigger plans. His Sats on room air are as high as they ever were post bi-vent, and the diaphragm has come down considerably. Today on echo, it not only wasnt moving paradoxically, but it was moving slightly WITH the other side! The plication has been cancelled!!! Thank you God and everyone who prayed, hoped, and believed it was possible! He is still having several other aspects of his 100,000 mile tune-up though. He will be going under general anesthesia for a Trans esophageal echo, bronchoscope with ciliary biopsy, Otolaryngology will be looking at his trachea, esophagus, etc for any abnormalities and do the nasal swab portion of the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia test. We are praying that the GI team will be able to scope him , take biopsies, and do the Botox injection of his Pylorus. The coordination of this day of procedures is a bit of a disaster that I dont even want to go into right now. Im focusing on the overwhelming positive tonight. Please pray, think positively, and hope that the planned procedures are available and successful, and that Kaleb is stable and safe under anesthesia. Thank you so much for everything! One day, one hour, one minute at a time...
