I was woken early by a very loud buzzing noise. Never did find out what caused it but luckily it also woke Food Slave so it meant she had time to hang out the bunting and order the brass band. Well alright, she didn’t go quite as far as that but at least she actually remembered my birthday this year and had organised for a few of the furry neighbours to attend a soiree in my honour. I was just about to launch into my oration when the heavens opened and there was a mad rush indoors when the party continued to the early hours (well to about half three anyway) After the guests had left I was talking to Food Slave whilst I finished up the prawn skewers (they are a handy foodstuff. Not only are there prawns but the wooden stick is useful for ensuring that my superior fangs are flossed). It occurred to me that I have been alive for nine of your earth years and I’m still on my first life. At this rate I might make a century yet. I wonder if you still get a telegram from the queen. Knowing my luck, by the time I reach 100, I’ll just get a postcard from the scruffy tortoiseshell who lives above the off licence (I know she’s technically a queen, but still….). Anyway, I am quite impressed with this birthday business. Not only did I get party food but I also had my stock of catnip replenished and a box full of fishy treats not to mention a lengthy ear-scratching from Food Slave. All in all a good day. Let’s see what my tenth year brings………
