I wasnt for sure if my linked work. But this is the article for the NJSA junior spotlight. So proud of Drew. Cant wait to see what thus industry has in store for him!!! Drew JacobsonOsceola, Iowa The NJSA is proud to recognize Drew Jacobson of Osceola, Iowa as a September Youth Spotlight. Drew, 8, is the son of Andy and Nicole Jacobson; he is in third grade at Clarke Community Elementary. Drew has one sister, Macy, 5. Drew has been showing pigs since he was 4 years old. His first show was the Benton County FFA Spring Preview held in Vinton, IA. Showing animals is a family tradition in the Jacobson house, as Drew’s parents both grew up showing livestock and decided it would be a good industry to raise their children in. Drew’s favorite thing about showing pigs is getting to spend time with his friends and family. He says he has met so many people through showing pigs that he maybe would not have had the opportunity to meet if he wasn’t involved in the industry. Drew has been an NJSA member for three years. He says he got involved in the organization because he wanted to start showing outside of the Iowa Swine Jackpot Series. His favorite NJSA contest is showmanship because he says, “It is the Best of the Best.” Drew’s favorite NJSA event is the World Pork Expo because he gets to exhibit against kids from all across the United States, but since it is held in Iowa he gets to be with his “pig family” and share in all of the excitement with them. Drew has experienced much success in 2014! He was named the 2014 Champion Novice Showman at the WPX and was fortunate to be selected as the 4th Overall Crossbred Barrow. Drew was also the 2014 Reserve Overall High Point Market Individual in the Iowa Swine Jackpot Series as well as being named the 7th Overall Novice Showman at the 2013 NAILE. Drew’s favorite quote, “Never look past the little things, because someday you will realize they were big things.” With all of his recent success, it seems that Drew pays close attention to this quote when working with his animals. His future plans include becoming more involved with the NJSA as he gets older. Drew would also like to attend Iowa State University and be a member of the livestock judging team. After college, the future Cyclone, dreams of raising show pigs, judging livestock shows, and being an ambassador for the swine industry. Drew would like to send a special thanks to all of those that have helped him in his showing career so far and he cannot wait to see what the future holds. We here at the NJSA are excited to see what Drew’s future holds as well! On behalf of all of us here at the NJSA, congratulations Drew, and good luck in all that you do!
