I wasnt going to post this. I didnt see a reason too. Then I read something ignorant and decided to do it. This is a true story. It happened at approximately 2:30 this afternoon. December 11, 2014. Today, I went to CVS... I was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and construction boots. Over that was a black hoodie and a Steelers beanie. Nothing out of the ordinary. I saw a remote controlled helicopter and stopped by to pick it up and examine it. A young female associate stopped stocking the shelf two aisles over and suddenly started to straighten up the magazine rack directly beside me. When I opened the case to look for the charger, she comes up next to me to fix the helicopter I knocked over in front of me and gave me a half hearted smile before going back where she was. I put it down and walk away and I see her in the monitor above me looking in the case I opened. I brushed in off. Then I stood in line in CVS to pick up some antibiotics for my father. As I stood there about 10 minutes and listened as the woman in the pharmacy made small talk and laughed with the three people ahead of me. She asked them for their CVS rewards card, handed them their change and wished them a cheerful Merry Christmas!! as they walked away with a big smile on her face. I stepped up to the counter and said good afternoon and she blankly stared me in the face and said nothing. I ignored it and explained why I was here and gave her my father name. She hit a few keys on the register and stares at me again. I hold her gaze and then she says Birthday? as if I want supposed to know. I replied politely and she turned to get it. When she returned to the counter, she tossed the bag up on the counter and proceeds to explain to me how to press the button on the screen, sign my signature and press confirm. But she did so in such a nasty and demeaning way that it angered me. She spoke loudly and slowly as if I was some sort of imbecile. Following each instruction with a sarcastic Ooookaaay? and tells me the total. I reached into my wallet and removed a crisp $20 bill from the bill fold and handed it to her. She grasped the corner and turned her back to check it twice. Placed it in the drawer, counted out my change and laid it on the top of the bag. She snatched the receipt from the register and folded it in half and laid it on the top of my money. Then she used one finger to push the bag across the counter and when it was an even distance between the two of us, she quickly drew her hand back and walks away from the counter for hand sanitizer. I politely say thank you and have a good day and turn to leave. She never acknowledged anything else I said but as I walked away I heard her strike up a conversation with the woman behind me. I brushed it off. Then as I started walking down the sidewalk towards the truck, an elderly man exits his vehicle in front of me and when he steps up on the curb, he looks at me and looked as if he saw a ghost. I smile and said hello and he turned around and pretended to look at the ground. He slipped his keys out of his pocket and beeped the alarm button and waited until I got in the truck before he practically ran pass the front of the truck. I got in the truck and my mom asked me if I noticed that man and I said yes. She shook her head and we pulled off. I brushed it off. Brush it off Chris... Let it go Chris... Just let it go...
