I watched the last part of a tennis match last night … even - TopicsExpress

I watched the last part of a tennis match last night … even though I knew the outcome since it had been played earlier and I knew the results. My absolutely favorite tennis player … Rafael Nadal … lost in the finals of the Sony Open. Now why is this something I think that you should know? Well it was during this game that I realized something important about myself. Over the past year so many have asked me how I remain positive while going through such a horrible illness as cancer … well today I know the answer! During the match late last night I realized that my attitude and demeanor was amazingly calm. When he missed a ball or doubled faulted, I hardly reacted. Believe me … my usual reactions are quite different … let’s say that I really do have a rather loud yelling voice while being unduly upset and ill behaved. The reason for my improved behavior was obvious … I already knew the outcome of the match and getting upset would not change it in any way. It is amazing how knowledge changes things: Was he going to lose this match … yes! Would he still be ranked #1 in the world … yes! Would he still be my favorite tennis player … yes! Thought: So when we know the final outcome, such things as losing can be endured and sometimes even ignored. True Statement! So what’s my point! … my having cancer did not change my outlook on life, it did not change my faith in God, of having Hope, or the knowledge that I carry with me every day that things will really be OK with any result. I wrote down a movie quote yesterday (but forgot to write down the name of the movie) … “We can make all the plans for our life that we want, but God has His own plan and doesnt see the need to check with us!” I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who loves and blesses me every single day. I can return that love with being thankful for what I have and by being a positive example with those I am around. I realize that my attitude and positive living puts me on the winning side every time … even in the most trying times of my life. Just saying …
