I watched this video and I cried. I cried for the officers, for their families, for their wives and children, their brothers and sisters in blue and for our society. How sad it’s become that we live in a world where people would rather a kill an enforcer of the law solely because they don’t want to go to jail. If you don’t have somebody in law enforcement that you love, I don’t care what your stand is on it anymore. I was going to offer you a caution before you watched the video in case you couldnt handle it, but no -- you NEED to see this. You don’t know what it’s like to watch them walk out the door every day and not know if they’re coming back. You don’t know what it’s like when you know the only thing that stands between them and harm is a small duty belt, or an ineffective vest or a radio. Carpenters have more tools to do their jobs than cops do. You don’t know what it’s like to hold your breath when an officer doesn’t answer a code 4. You have no idea what it’s like to control your emotions or your voice when you’re not sure that they’re ok. You do not know what it’s like to watch the pain on their faces that they try so hard to hide, even though you know deep down things crush them. The police officer is not a law maker, but he swears to uphold the laws that our legislature enacts, whether he agrees with them or not. It is his duty, and his calling and the choice to live the life of an unsung hero. And he is repaid with hate, anger, bitterness, and attacks. I no longer have room in my life for people who do not or cannot show respect to the men and women who do this job. These people are my heroes, and there is no voice in a crowd of protestors that can sway me. I am not waiting until police officer appreciation week to thank you for what you do for us; for our society, for our families, for all of us. Thank you for putting your lives on the line so that we can safely live ours. We’re so blind and so unaware of how much you do for us and I am tired of you being seen as persecutors instead of helpers, and therefore I share this video with you to remind you that you sacrifice does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
