I wear hearing aids and every now and then my outer ear canal becomes very irritated, swollen and sore because of this. Sometimes the soreness and swelling would last for many days where I could not wear my hearing aid. Well, I have found a very simple, natural and effective remedy. Chop up a bulb of garlic. Gently heat a quarter cup of virgin olive oil to where it is warm and not hot. Remove from heat, add the garlic and let it sit for at least a few hours to let the garlic infuse in the oil. Strain through some cheesecloth and bottle. Use an eyedropper or Q-tip to coat the affected area. This eliminates the soreness and swelling for me overnight. I am told that this is also good for middle and inner ear infections.
