I went into the bush the other day in search of a native tree - TopicsExpress

I went into the bush the other day in search of a native tree called Houhere, from the marshmallow family – it helps soothe mucous membranes (I was after something to soothe inflammation and ulceration in the gut). I hadn’t come across it before, so I walked into the forest saying ‘Houhere! Houhere! I’ve come to meet you! Where are you?’ – yes – I may be a little odd, but that’s ok. A few minutes later, a little voice piped up – ‘Over here! I’m over here!’ – and I was drawn to this tree who almost seemed to be unashamedly showing off her beauty to me. We had a conversation, I asked if she was Houhere. Yes! She replied. I tuned in to her and could feel her energy thick and fast coming through my palms and running a circuit in my body. I asked if I could pick a branch to take home and work with, Yes! Pick me! Pick me! So I did. The strange thing was, I had a sneaking suspicion that this wasn’t Houhere. I took the branch home and did some meditation with her energy anyway. I felt a really strong energy moving up from my colon, through my stomach, the heart, third eye and out the top of my head, and got the feeling this plant was working on me energetically to clear emotions, because I felt so light afterward. I shared the plant with my herb mentor, who laughed and said it wasn’t Houhere! It was actually Pukatea, a somewhat poisonous tree, that, when used in the right way, can provide pain relief much like morphine. Energetically however, it works on releasing old grief and drawing out old emotions. Now it made sense! Sneaky, sneaky tree, tricking me like that. Guess she just really wanted me to work with her. Just thought I would share this because there are so many treasures to be discovered if we just take the time to slow down and connect with nature. In this case, I truly didn’t get what I wanted, but I got what I needed... we often store old emotions in the gut/intestines, so the lesson here for me, was to just let go. Beautiful! Lx
