I went on a tour of a brand new ceramic tile factory, here in eastern TN. I was shooting a corporate video. The factory is huge, cavernous, and all the machinery is state-of-the-art, made in Italy. There are a handful of humans working there, but most of the work, including the forklift driving is done by robots. The humans do the sweeping up, and watch the machines. Not exactly highly-skilled, highly paid positions. So the massive tax-breaks that the state gave the owners, to promote business and create jobs, has resulted in about 25-30 new jobs. The factory is the principle supplier of ceramic tiles to Loews Home Improvement centers.
