I went out to buy something and on my way back a taxi driver who didnt have enough fuel to take me back to where I came from offered to drop me somewhere I could more easily get a cab. In the vanity of my self absorbed mind my first thought was that God had sent me favor as a demonstration of how good I am etc etc But thank God for Himself! The rebuke was swift and sharp: that man didnt help me because of MY goodness but rather HIS own goodness! And I asked myself, instead of waiting around to receive favors from God, who have I allowed Him use me to bless today? While that taxi man will receive his reward for doing good, I will receive no reward for benefiting from it. My prayer: Father help me to be so yielded to You and the resources under my stewardship so surrendered to You that meeting needs will be an everyday part of my life on Earth in service to You. Amen
