I went to Publix to get my mother some AA batteries for her remote - TopicsExpress

I went to Publix to get my mother some AA batteries for her remote control. Outside, there was this old man and his old girl, a 14-year-old mutt. You can tell she was gorgeous in her youth, and now she has cataracts and is sporting a snowed face in what once was as black as her nose. The old man resembles a dirty Santa Claus, long white hair and blue eyes and all. He is pulling a red shopping cart from Office Depot. I saw him yesterday crossing 32nd avenue. I spoke to him, learned his dogs name is U-Haul because he had rescued her from a U-Haul lot when she was a pup. He recommended a vet who is not a thief and who is in the area. I tried to give him $5 - it was all the cash I had with me, but he refused and wished me a Happy Christmas. I left and came home. I had made earlier my specialty soup: Cream of Leek. I heated it up, took a bag of dog food I had (my dogs didnt eat it), a bag of mandarin oranges and a box of Ritz crackers and headed back to Publix. He was not there, but the dog was and the shopping cart, so I assumed he had gone inside the store, so I waited for him. In the meantime, I placed the bag with the few goodies inside his cart and dropped the $5.00 he had rejected earlier. He came back and told me he couldnt accept the soup because he had had a beer and it might not sit well with it (I dont believe him, I think he was afraid to eat something he didnt see prepare and that it was in an open container.) I begged him to accept the little things I have brought him, and he grarcefully did saying he would share it with others. He did and told me that I will receive it back four folds... I was crying, broke my heart to see this old man like that; you could see the man is an educated man. As I entered my car, he came to me and whispered to me: You have made my day! I thought he meant my good gesture, and I smiled. Then, pointing with his finger to the front of my car he said: Obama! He is a great president! I laughed and agreed... It happens to be that Santa Claus is a Democrat. I left crying, things like this shouldnt happen in our society... we are a failure, and Santa is proof of it.
