I went to a training last night that was provided by the Childrens Therapy Network, and it was wonderful! There was only two other parents there, one of which was a grandparent. I couldnt believe, even with the stress I still encounter from day to day having a child with Special Needs, how much more relaxed I am, and our household is, now that we are homeschooling. The struggles I heard those other parents talk about having their Special children in schools/classrooms that were wonderful but simply didnt have the manpower to meet their childs needs. I remember that struggle all too well! I realize it was just simpler once my child was in my care all day, and I didnt have to worry about handing him over to a system for 8 hours a day. And to think, I thought that (conventional school) MUST be done, even when I was staying home! All along, there was a simple, mostly cost-free answer! The initial transition, admittedly, was difficult. But all in all, Benny is so much happier! And despite some current difficulties, now that Ive had a chance to reflect on how things used to be, I realize I am much happier too!
