I went to bed Friday night with full plans on going deer hunting and then meeting up with a friend for some detecting Saturday. Well I guess I am getting old because after setting the monument Friday by myself (digging foundation, making concrete and dragging a thousand plus pounds of granite up a hill to get to the grave) I was just to tired to get up when my alarm went off at 5:00am. I slept in till around 8, then I decided I wouldnt see a deer so I decided to just head on out to metal detect. Well I walked out to my truck and what did I see 9 deer jumping the fence and heading for my bow stand, all I could do was laugh. I get to where I am going to detect and out in the road walks a big rack buck, of course where I was no deer hunting is allowed. (again all I could do was laugh) Well I did manage to have a great day of metal detecting with four silver coins including a half and four silver rings and four wheats and a buck or two of clad change. The Gold religious pendant was the only good find that I could find on Thanksgiving Day after I started my day sitting in the woods looking for Bambi. Glad I can find some treasure, because I sure cant find any deer unless I am not looking for them. lol My daughter Hunter Danielle Morris and I will be bow hunting this coming week at a controlled hunt, maybe between the two of us we will have some fresh deer in the freezer soon.
