I went to the City Commissioners meeting tonight and got my answer !!! Commissioner Keith Dowdell asked the so-called Temporary City Manager,Mike Wade, a direct question that we all want to know.... What direction is the city is supposed to be going in????? There was complete silence, Mike Wade sat there slumping behind Derrick Elias, just speechless.. Again Keith Dowdell asked, Since he was a part of the commission and knew nothing of this new direction, what direction is it he has taking upon himself the take the city? Again, slumping and silence until the point that it was uncomfortable. And Derrick Elias attempted to answer for Mike Wade to no avail... Again Keith asked, Since Mike Wade decided to fire Mrs Cynthia Shingles and said the reason was he decided the city was changing directions, what direction was that? Finally, Commissioner McMillian spoke up and said, WE DONT KNOW WHAT DIRECTION THAT WE ARE GOING IN!!!! but it began with the firing of Jack Linden McLean Jr.... Then Keith motioned to put out a RFQ for a City Manager( basically) post that the City Managers position is open ...And to my surprise Micah Brown seconded the motion !!!! the votes to at least advertise for the City Managers job were 3-2 NO.... Elias, Gay, and Mcmillian were against even advertising for qualified City Manager with more than a high school diploma... Which is a direct violation of the Citys Charter that we MUST have a City Manager not Temporary....So tonight what did I get out of this meeting??????? 3 Commissioners chose to ignore the Citys Charter, a Commission with no direction that began with the firing of Jack Mclean and since Mrs Shingles was affilated with Mr Mclean she has been fired also..... Aint that some bullshit?!!!!
