I went to visit my mother today and give her a hand with her car (dead battery). Naturally, my arrival was a significant distraction. She was boiling some eggs when I showed up, but while I was swapping out the battery we forgot about the eggs. When I went back inside (after a half hour or more) the place had a very odd smell. Checking the stove we discovered the scorched and smoking eggs. The water had completely boiled away. Being the genius that I am, I immediately grabbed the pot and put it in the sink while turning off the stove. Then I did what I always do when I take boiled (or in this case burned) eggs off the stove. I turned on the tap, to cool the blazing mess off. Some of you may have seen videos of eggs being microwaved. The results here were similar. When the cold water hit the superheated eggs an explosion ensued. Where a moment before there had been four eggs, there was no only one remaining. The other three were all over the walls, the ceiling, the floor, and not least of all—me. Thankfully my glasses saved my eyes, but I got a few mild burns (nothing serious). Stupid never dies (but sometimes it does make a terrible mess). Mom and I giggled for the next fifteen minutes while we cleaned it up. What can I say? Shes got a wicked sense of humor.
