I went tonight at 7:30 pm. To see a play at one of the Grate Lakes - TopicsExpress

I went tonight at 7:30 pm. To see a play at one of the Grate Lakes play house at the theater that they like to call the Hana Theater that is one of the play house in play house square in downtown Cleveland. I went with my best friend girlfriend to see this live production and of the Broadway hit play musical. Sweeny Todd, the demon Baber of fleet street. It was truly enjoyable show and the actors where full of energy. I felt that they got into their roles very well threw the whole show. But, I do have to admit. If I would of directed this production myself. I would of casted some of the parts a little differently then what the Grate Lakes Playhouse square or director did for this production. Some of the parts that they had cast in this play. I felt the director did not fit some of the roles very well for this play. The people that the director had picked for some of the lead or other roles did not fit with the true image of the script of the play. Some of the cast at times had sang off key and had even had missed many of their notes on many of the songs they where singing. Some of the cast also would even over stepped each other in their speaking or singing at time in the play. Which made it hard to hear what they where saying or singing. The sound quality in the theater was very poor at times and it was hard to make out what they where saying or singing at times threw out the play in both acts. I think they should have put microphones on the cast and this might of made the sound quality a lot better in the theater or for this production, then what it was. I also feel that the director who casted some of the parts also had missed some of the characters images for this play. One example is the character Toby, Mrs. Levitt and Todd I thought where wrongfully cast wrong. Even though the actors who played Todd, Toby and Mrs. Levitt. All Did a fine job and very well in their roles. I do not think that these three fit role fit the true image of what Sweeny Todd should of been. The character who the director also did not cast as small boy who was to play Toby. The guy he got to play him. Was clearly 18 or in his early 20s. Which the part of Toby is to be cast for a small boy that is very young like 8,9 or 10 years old. Over all the play was truly enjoyable and I glad I went. It was truly a remarkable evening to see live on stage.
