I will be the first, following the Labor Party primary results and looking forward to the MERETZ List Conference, to (jokingly) suggest reserving slots in party lists to be saved for men. Women are taking their proper places in leftist/centrist parties without having to use their reserved slots. This is while Bibi is struggling to find a woman to fill her reserved 11th slot in the Likud list. 11th! The first woman elected in the Likud primary was #13, Gila Gamliel. The only other (whose chances of becoming an MK are not realistic at this time) was #25, Nava Boker and then #26, Tzipi Hotovely I am proud of the left and its place in Israeli society. A womans place is no longer an issue on the left. I would urge women in the center to be sure to vote for a center-left party, if only for this reason. LABOR (with their places in the approved list and currently considered realistic): * 2. Tzipi Livni (Hatnua) * 3. Shelly שלי יחימוביץ * 4. Stav Shaffir * 9. Merav Michaeli מרב מיכאלי * 14. Revital Swid * 22. Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin * 27. Lea Padida MERETZ (to be decided in the Conference on Jan. 19): * זהבה גלאון Zehava Galon * Michal Rozin * Tamar Zandberg תמר זנדברג * Dr. Laura Wharton * Gaby Lasky * Revital Len-Cohen Remember that you heard of the idea first from me. (I may need it one day.)
