I will know tomorrow night at midnight whether we are really under contract for this very first house purchase of ours. Its loved and a nice size, but the bike path to school has been destroyed and it is a far cry from Boulder where the construction man comes to my door with folded hands, and my sons play therapist loves kirtan, and the nearby shops are full of Hindu deities, including Krishna, and worship paraphernalia. It is a little suburban nook surrounded by quite an industrial little area (selling big machines), but around the corner is a health food market (Luckys) and the school is two miles away. Buying means we will get equity, which means more freedom. It also means we can make the house our own, with low VOC paint and a gas stove, and if it does get damaged by a storm (God forbid), we can choose to be more thorough in our repairs than the Property Manager we have now. I will miss being surrounded by nature and not needing a car much, but now that my son is in a new school he loves I have been commuting 3 hours a day and it will be great to be free of that. Anyway, change and new commitments are scary, especially when the choice is compromise and not a spot on (THATs IT, this is PERFECT that I experienced before my devotional days). But we have waited a long time for this, and I think it is goo enough and will really simplify our lives and help us focus. And it is very rentable if we decide we just cant live without woods or living in a spiritual community. There is word the neighbor two doors down is a photographer for National Geographic and people seem very friendly. Deep Breath. Waiting to see what happens!
