I will never forget this ending, I cried when the realization hit me on this ending. After defeating the sorceress, your character gets caught in a time compression. He knows he alone without help, Squall relives all of his memories (good and the bad). But he goes back to Edea (Matroness) in the past and she explains she has to take the powers for the sorceress to rest in peace. But the powers eventually turn the person evil. There was a scene missing the American version of Final Fantasy VIII where Rinoa is the sorceress and she is scared on the ship with squall earlier in the game. As squall is in this time compression and feels alone going through his feelings, only one person comes to him, Rinoa (his girlfriend). He knows that she will eventually turn to out to be evil and he cries about it. But defeating the sorceress, all parts of the different time seem be liberated.
