I will say one simple sentence, I NEED HELP!!!! >I have had 11 knee surgeries on my left knee and i am 24 year old female. >I had an injury in 2006 when i was 16 years old, playing soccer in >Vancouver BC. I had ACL reconstruction done Sept 1 2006 up at UBC >hospital done by Dr Michael Gilbart. It was unfortunatley complicated by >a staph infection. Sept 15th he did debridement surgey and mensical >repair. Sept 22 he did debridement again and cleaned the knee and took a >biopsy of my syniviol tissue where the results showed sepsis. Had that >treated for 8 weeks with a picc line in my arm recieving antibiotics. Had >a lot of knee pain and discomfort and had difficult time at physio, we >had problems getting extension to 0*. In December 2006 my knee started >to lock up and a lot of pain where my medial meniscus is. I called Dr >Gilbart and he said i needed to come ASAP. He thought it was due to a >meniscal flip so i got to his office where he scheduled meniscal surgery >the next morning. The menisal tore again because from the begining he >sutured it up instead of doing a resection of the torn piece. After that >i was able to get a bit more extension but i had the locking of the knee >happen again. In March 2007 he did a meniscetonomy and arthroscopy of the >knee where he saw that my ACL fibers were very loose and that i should >consider a ACL revision surgery. I made the decision to go on with >revision ACL reconstruction in October 2007. Dr Gilbart did it with >autograft of my right knees hamstring graft. This revision surgery ended >successfully with no infection. After rehab i was able to return playing >soccer using a custom made ACL brace. I didnt play for long as i was >involved in a motor vehicle accident on June 25 2008 . I struck the dash >board as a passenger and reinjured my knee, lower back and left shoulder >popped out. I was transported to the hospital where i was observed and >did xrays and tests. Not long after i did an MRI which showed a complete >tear of the ACL. No orthpedic surgeon wanted to carry on with my >situation, Dr Gilbart just kept reffering me to other Doctors in >Vancouver, and they all would examine me and tell me that it needs to be >done again but no one would do it. So i decide to leave the country and >go back home to Bosnia where i was born. I am in Banja Luka studying >here, and got in touch with orthpedic clinic : TRAPISTE. DR MIROSLAV >ZOTOVIC. >It was very hard for the doctor here to accept me and proceed with a >difficult surgery. Dr Sinisa Bijeljac (orthopedic surgeon) Nov 3 2010 did >a 3rd ACL revision using method BTB bone graft. Surgery was long lasting >about 3 20 hrs. I was admitted in the hospital for 17 days. I was hoping >for the best outcome after having done this but unfortunately a month >later i had a feeling my knee was back to the same old like before this >big surgery. I did an MRI and went to speak with Dr Sinisa Bijeljac, and >he was in shcok couldnt believe that on my MRI scan you cant even see the >new ACL that was done a month ago it just has disappeared. He has >consulted me with other surgeons around the area and no one understands >what is actually going on. He has sent me to go see a surgeon in Zagreb >Croatia (Dr Sasa Jankovic) He was shocked as well what i have been going >through with my knee, and his next step basically was to do an >osteotonomy of the knee in two acts. I wasnt really sure because he wasnt >sure himself if it would succeed. Then i was referred tp Dr Marko Kadija >in Belgrade Serbia, where they couldnt believe it as well, that no one >has any solution, all they said is we are at risk in whatever we choose >to do any kind of surgery. So i left it at that. I havnet done nothing >for a year since then, i had pain, swelling after walking too much, >unstable totally and so on. So i went to a rehab center for a month to >see if physical rehab would help me straighten my quad muscles. It helped >a bit but that is not the real solution. So Dr Sinisa Bijeljac decided to >do a arthroscopy of my left knee in Feburary 20 2013 where he said he saw >a new injury to the Lateral meniscus where he did resection of the torn >piece. and Shaved off my torn ACL and said i had a partial tear of my PCL >and it was very loose. Also my cartlidge was very damaged. Closed up my >knee and sent me to physical rehab again. In meantime Doctors there sent >me to Novi Sad Serbia to consult with a very good orthopedic surgeon >there Dr Miroslav Milankov where he didnt give me any hope. Basically >said my knee tunnels are very hollow and drilled up and im missing bone >structure and my knee alignment is not in place after all the surgeries i >had. So he said he cant guarantee anything but we can give it a try. I >said no to that. So August 14, 2014 Dr Sinisa Bijeljac decided to do another knee arthroscopy and we didn’t get anything from that surgery, I was sent to rehab again. After 3 months of physical rehab I didn’t have any positive results in range of motion, so I was scheduled to go see surgeon prof Miroslav Haspl in Zagreb. I went there and he said we needed to do bone grafting and so on. I was operated on December 16, 2013 where he did knee arthroscopy and spongioplastiku femura I tibije, and resection of the ACL. After sugery with no garauntee I was sent to rehabilitation center Banja Slatina. Spending 60 days in Banja Slatina I didn’t get any results in range of motion. My extension is -15 and flexion 55-60 degrees. My knee is very painful and very unstable, I feel like I have rocks inside. Last week another surgeon Dr Papic opened my knee and cleaned it out he said i had something under my patela which he removed. My ROM is a bit better but i still feel the stiffness. Please if you have any suggestions or solutions or any kind of idea on what to do next ,please let me know or anyone with similar issues or problems !!! Warm regards
