I will truly miss Meridian High School. For the last six years I have enjoyed going to work because my job was so much more than just a job. I had been blessed to teach young children not only social studies but how to treat each other and those with authority over them; not by demanding respect but through giving respect. My heart is heavy upon finding out my services are no longer required at MHS for the following school year per Dr. Taylor. So many students and coworkers carved a permanent place in my heart. To every student who entered my classroom door whether for class; to store some of your personal belongings; or just to say hello and give me a needed hug I love you and will miss you dearly. To every student consistently calling my name (MRS. JONES... MRS. JONES…MRS. JONES and sometimes HATTYE that always got an immediate reaction from me) you are loved and missed. To those special students who allowed me the opportunity to become a part of your world….y’all know I love you and you know who you are!!!! To every one of you through the years who participated in the Black History Programs and Talent shows…you made me proud and because of your presence in my life….I am blessed!!!!! (Wish I could call names but the list would be much too long). The classes’ of2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 I LOVE YALL!!!!!!! The history department; Mr. Hagwood (the fairest man I’ve worked under), Mr.Culpepper (one of the sweetest man I know), Mr. Abdella (you always made my day with a hug and a hearty hello), Mr. Vallez (couldn’t have done a great job without you), Mr. Lockley (the new kid on the block…smile), and especially Ms Reed (my mentor and my friend) will always be dear to my heart. I have never worked with a more loveable group of people. Ms Katie….so glad I met you and I truly love you. Cancer is a devastating condition and through it I am still standing and a healing is taking place. The one thing I did not see was losing something I dearly loved...teaching at MHS. I was not going to post this however it is the only avenue I know where I can touch so many of your at one time. Walking boldly into God’s opened door and closing this chapter of my life…..what a wonder ride!!!!!!!!
