I will try to be short. Kinda emotional, so bear with me Reflections 17 years ago today about 10.40am, I got the best news anyone could wish for, I was an out- patient at the SUNY Downstate hospital, when Dr. Choi said to me, “Arthur, We got all, you are free to go home, the scan showed no sign of cancer” It was a day I was looking forward to since April 27th, 1997, when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma it was a topsy-turvy journey. Difficult days were ahead. Theodore Ted Gill and Hilary Walker travelled to NY to see what was happening to me, they heard I was dying. My family rallied together especially my sisters and brothers and took great care of me, friends called and I did what I had to do. My biggest fear was not able to see Greig Stjohn, my son who was about 12 year old at the time. After five months of radiation, I was able to return home and today i can celebrate 17 years in remission. I am grateful for the support I received from everyone. My journey thus far would have been more difficult if YOU wasn’t at my side, the last 14 year was made easy for me, Claris Charles I don’t know what I would have done without. The many sleepless nights I gave you while I scream in pain from the many side effects of the radiation treatment, your comforting words and your gentle touch provided the healing power. Thank you darling. Today, as I reflect on life, I have learnt to live one day at a time, thanking God for his many, many mercies and grace. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
