¤I wish- Part 1¤ I was at friend’s b’day party. The day - TopicsExpress

¤I wish- Part 1¤ I was at friend’s b’day party. The day went, as usual, bad. And I, like always, was having a row with god. “Are you like this with everyone? Or is it just me, your painted target?” Seriously, I was tired of all his tricks of making my life from bad to worse. “Really, don’t you get bored with me? There are 7 billion more. Why me?” “You have a problem with God?” said an angelic voice. A girl appeared from the crowd. “No, I think it’s the other way round. By the way, who are you?” I asked trying not to sound rude. She smiled and replied “Oh, yes, sorry, my name is Angel” Well you surely look like one, I thought. “I am AJ’s friend”. AJ was today’s host. “Why are you blaming God?” “Well I don’t think we have enough time to discuss all the reasons” I said trying not to be rude. “Oh my, you don’t seem too happy. Well, I’ll be happy with 1 or 2” she said in a serious manner “He doesn’t seem to be happy with all my hard work. I had been transferred thrice. Then I quitted, came back and joined another company, and the boss is such a headache, taking credits for all my works, paying me less, insulting me all the time” “Well that’s one” she said with a nod I sighed. Isn’t this enough, I thought “I’ve been trying so hard to get published, but refusal everywhere” “Oh, so you are a writer” she said with amazement “More of a poet” “What else?” she asked Why the hell is she so curious? I thought. “I am so bad at trusting. I trust everyone without a word. I don’t have anyone close with whom I can share everything. My friends have started to bail out on me one by one.” I stopped for a breath. I don’t know why I was being so frank with her. “Do you need more reasons?” “Well no, I am satisfied. But don’t you think there might be a reason he is doing this to you?” “Oh yes. He hates me, that’s why” I said rolling my eyes. She laughed. “You’re such a pessimist. Well I suggest you to pray to him instead of blaming or arguing with him” “You think I will?” “What do you think would be the solution to your problems?” she counter-questioned. “Yes, if…. I wish I had someone in my life. Someone who would wait for my call.Would get tensed if I didn’t.Someone who would share me.Someone who would love me back.” I answered after thinking. “Well, given that you wouldn’t pray, someone has to. So I’ll pray that you get what you wish for. You said you were a poet. Will you narrate me something?” “Oh I’ll be happy to do that” I was always ready to recite poems, especially to ladies. I racked my brains to find something suitable for the moment and this was what I recited- At me, why are you so mad? You’ve never been good but ever been bad Even though I’ve always been a good lad. You’ve always made my life a lot sad Why are you always on me? Isn’t your mind ever free To think of others around here. Or you don’t see them from up there? Maybe that’s why it’s always me. Your first and foremost enemy Why not call me up or you come down. So we can talk about this without a frown And also sort all this. Or make me happy that is She laughed and said “Pessimist. Okay I’ll go now. See you soon” “Thanks for the company by the way” I said. She turned and gave me smile. “Hey, Ram” I turned towards the voice. It was AJ. I hugged him and said “Happy B’day”. “Thank you, brother. BTW Ram, I want you to meet my friend, Simran. Simran, this is my darling friend, Ram, the one I told you about.” He said. I wondered what he’d told her about me. “Oh so you are also a poet?” She had a voice like that of a wind chime. “’Also’?” I asked. “I too write stuff” “That’s great” “If you’ll excuse me” AJ said and went away. I knew exactly what he meant and all I managed to say was “Sure”. “So tell me Ram……” and then we began to ask each other a lot of questions. At the end of the day, we exchanged numbers, e-mail ids and a lot of info. “Why don’t you recite me something?” “Sure” I said and recited the same poem that I recited to Angel just a couple hours ago. “You’re such a pessimist, Ram.” And we both laughed and then we bid adieu to each other. I then texted her “So where are we meeting next? :-D”. She replied “let’s meet tomorrow for coffee” We decided the place and time. And then we kept on meeting for about a month. And then something unexpected happened. >Tarun
