I wish I had the option of forming a gay straight alliance when I attended Ponoka Composite High School. It would have made life less complicated and the social maneuvering easier. Last year I had a chance to be a guest speaker after students requested that I come share my thoughts about being openly gay and my volunteer community work in Edmonton. At that time of my life I wasnt aware that such a group existed. Knowing that former city councillor Michael Phair spoke the month prior to me. I knew the it was something of importance. Now that I am fully aware of #GSA and its importance in lives of young albertans, I fully support it and recognize the value in students forming #GSA. The students were bright and full of idea on how to make their communities a better place. I applied many of their ideas to From Hate to Hope.
