I wish that I lived in a place or a time where this government shutdown problem didnt happen. I wish I lived in a place or a time when this sort of thing was out of the question, and politicians had the courage and honesty to take the blame for situations like this. But in the time and place I live in, it is easier to point fingers, and play with smoke and mirrors and peoples livelihoods. It seems to me that, in this time and place that I live in, I have 500 or so elected officials who do not, and seemingly cannot do their jobs. These people who were elected to office do not represent me, and they do not represent you, or us. In no sense of the word do they embody this collective nation. If they did, they might have done something by now. A politicians job is not to have an opinion. I have an opinion, and so does everyone else. They are paid far too much to simply have an opinion. Not is their job to talk about or present their opinion, because any idiot with a mouth and half a brain can do that too. A politicians job is to serve the people BY WORKING WITH OTHER POLITICIANS. I dont understand how they dont get this, and I also dont understand how we arent far more upset than this. Are you kidding me? These are people whose ONLY JOB FOR THE REST OF THEIR WORKING LIVES is to work together, and they cant seem to do that. Now, maybe there is something that Im not getting about this picture, but it seems to me that we need to change something here. We need a fresh start. From this point on I will not vote for anyone who has already served a term, in any office. I wish I lived in a time or a place where these things didnt have to happen, and for my future kids sake, Im going to try like hell to make that happen.
